After spending the night at one of the four campsites at Neuendorfer See, a not very long but exciting observation tour towards Werder begins. Crossing the lake, you first reach Alt Schadow, where you can buy smoked fish from the local fisherman. Beyond the lock, various nature reserves start on both sides of the River Spree. Twisting old river arms on the left offer views of extensive meadows as well as oak, floodplain, and bog forests. These serve as important habitats for otters and rare bird species. Full of impressions, you can spend the night at the waterway rest area in the serene Werder at the end of the day.The next day, you continue following the flow of the Spree in calm waters, giving you ample opportunity to explore the picturesque landscape with beaver dams, stork nests, and rare birds such as the kingfisher or reed warbler. In Kossenblatt, you reach the fully automatic lock. After that, you continue the relaxed tour towards Trebatsch, where you can easily reach by canoe without major efforts. If you havent seen Brandenburgs largest lake, the Schwielochsee, then a detour there is highly recommended. It offers versatile leisure activities with numerous campsites and bathing areas.
