The historical center of the city is intersected by two waterways, the Brandenburg Lower Havel and the Brandenburg City Canal. Pass the banks of the three medieval city centers Old Town, New Town, and Cathedral Island on a round tour through the city center with fantastic views of significant architectural monuments. Extension: For an extension through the suburban lock, simply stay on the Brandenburg Lower Havel and continue to the Small Beetzsee up to the Silo Canal, turn right at the suburban lock, then continue on the Lower Havel Waterway until the next right turn into the City Canal. A connecting tour is, for example, over the Small Beetzsee and the suburban lock (approximately 5.5 km and more) is possible. The round tour can, of course, also start at a different point. In Brandenburg an der Havel, there are numerous canoe rentals. Distance / Duration: 5 km (2-4h) Start / Finish: Mühlendamm - Brandenburg City Canal - Brandenburg Lower Havel - Näthewinde. The tour can also start at other locations, as there are several boat rental companies and launching points in Brandenburg. Arrival / Departure: Public transport: From Berlin Zoological Garden with the RE1 to Brandenburg an der Havel (approximately 1h) Car: From Berlin via the B5, A10, and B1 to Brandenburg an der Havel (approximately 1.5h). Tour description: The tour starts at Mühlendamm. Right there, there is a canoe rental or parking spaces. For a snack before the tour, there are several restaurants. The tour begins towards the Brandenburg City Canal. Along the route, there are two small moorings on the City Canal. The journey leads past the Paulikloster with the Archaeological State Museum and the Catholic Church Holy Trinity. Then it goes through the city lock, followed by a right turn onto the Brandenburg Lower Havel (from the second canoe dock, you can reach several ice cream parlors on Steinstraße). On the Brandenburg Lower Havel, you can dock in the city center at the Millennium Bridge at the café or behind the bridge at the restaurant on the left. Please note: there is sometimes heavy boat traffic here, including passenger ships. The tour continues to Näthewinde. At the end of Näthewinde, at the portage point (turn right into Näthewinde just behind the Millennium Bridge). Please note: canoes can be transferred here with the help of a boat trolley running on a rail. A key deposit of 20 euros must be left at the nearby restaurant An der Dominsel! Alternatively, you can also carry the boat. Before turning into Näthewinde, we recommend a detour to the cathedral courtyard and a visit to the cathedral. From there, it goes back to Mühlendamm.
