Zittauer Sagenpfad

This tour presents a selection of legends that have been told in and around the town of Zittau over the centuries. They are short, mostly oral tales about fantastic, mystical and historical stories, but also stories taken from nature. All sagas were created by anonymous authors and are an early part of folk poetry. They are usually linked to specific events in our town and - in contrast to fairy tales - can usually be assigned to people and local history. During your walk you will certainly find out the historical background of individual legends! The content of these legends is based on the "Sagenbuch des Königreichs Sachsen" by Dr. Alfred Meiche, published in 1903.
