The Kocher Jagst cycle route is a real insider tip among German river cycle routes. On six stages with a total of 332 km, you will experience your own personal piece of the perfect world. You will immerse yourself in our unspoiled home region with its untouched natural landscapes, quaint villages and small towns and meet open and sociable people. And best of all: unusually for a river cycle path, this is a circular route. You cycle down the Kocher and back up the Jagst, or vice versa. Just as you like.

A good starting point for the Kocher-Jagst cycle route is the beautiful small town of Aalen am Kocher. Thanks to the good train connections, you can travel comfortably and sustainably and set off directly from the station. The first stage down the Kocher from Aalen to Schwäbisch Hall already gives you a taste of all the highlights that await you over the next few days. The cycle path winds along the Kocher through pristine natural landscapes. Quaint little towns decorated with half-timbered houses invite you to take a break and one or two unexpected surprises can be discovered along the way.

The second stage takes you to the wine village of Forchtenberg, where more and more vineyards dominate the landscape of the Kocher Valley. Treat yourself to a well-earned glass of wine before continuing to the mouth of the Kocher into the Neckar near Bad Friedrichshall on the third day.

Just a few hundred meters further on, the Jagst also flows into the Neckar. The harmonious coexistence of the two twin rivers allows you to cycle upstream on stages four to six back to Aalen. Castles and fortresses, which tell you about the extraordinary life of Götz von Berlichingen, tower over the picturesque Jagst valley, which cuts ever deeper into the Hohenlohe plateau. Small town gems, such as the half-timbered Ellwangen, invite you to take a break and nature also shows its most beautiful side, for example in the St. Wendel zum Stein nature reserve or the bird sanctuary at the Buch reservoir. After six eventful, yet pleasantly relaxing days on the bike, you return to Aalen and travel home in comfort by train.
