The route continues along the educational wine trail through the forest to the beautiful "Himmelreich" vineyard and finally back to the starting point. The hike starts at the train station in Winnenden. Here you will find the fire department museum, which is well worth a visit for young and old before or after the hike: there are currently over 7000 exhibits to admire in the lovingly designed exhibition area. It's off to the beautiful town center of Winnende. The historic town center is characterized by half-timbered houses and baroque town houses. The Schwaikheim gate tower, the town's landmark, is also worth seeing. In the pedestrian zone, you have a few opportunities to fortify yourself with a coffee or ice cream before the "real" start. Now you walk out of town and across the lively Buchenbach stream to the "Weingut Häußer" winery with its typical Swabian broom, which is a wonderful place to stop for a bite to eat (for exact opening times, visit www.weingut-hauesser.de). Taste your way through the excellent selection of wines and fortify yourself with delicious home-made food before the hike continues along the stream into the vineyards and finally over a staircase typical of wine-growing regions, called "Stäffele", to the small village of Bürg. Here you walk past the Bürger Turm tower to the cozy "Bürger Besen", which is also always worth a visit (exact opening times can be found at www.buergerbesen.de). Now follow the panoramic road up to the Bürger Schloßberg. An enchanting landscape awaits you here. Immerse yourself in the history of viticulture on the educational wine trail. Wine has been grown on this, the oldest vineyard in Winnenden, since the 14th century. You can learn more about the history of viticulture from the informative information boards that line the entire trail. There is also a large panorama board with color photos. Let your gaze wander into the distance and enjoy the magnificent view over Winnenden and some of its districts, with the Stuttgart television tower, Hohenasperg and Lemberg in the distance. On a clear day, you can see as far as the Stromberg. The hike now takes you to a vineyard site whose name promises a good drop of wine: "Himmelreich" is the name of the area in which the municipal vineyard in Hertmannsweiler is located. Walk uphill, past the characteristic vineyard cottages that line the path, to the edge of the forest and a refuge. This is an ideal place for a rest and it is also worth taking a look into the distance: once again, you will have a beautiful view over Winnenden and its suburbs. Finally, you leave the "Himmelreich" and the vineyards and walk back to Winnenden and the starting point at the train station.
