This newly designed trail leads from Grunbach to Buoch and optionally with further stops in the direction of Winnenden. The challenging hike through forests, vineyards and geotopes provides a special insight into the geology and landscape history of the Keuperbergland region.

The Geological Trail leads from Grunbach to Buoch and optionally with further stops onwards to Winnenden. The challenging hike through forests, vineyards, geotopes and past numerous vantage points can be done either as a route or as a circular hike back to Grunbach. Over asphalt and forest paths, it leads through the geological formations of the Middle and Upper Keuper, which was formed around 230 million years ago through the changing deposition of sands and clays in an inland basin. It offers a special insight into the geology and landscape history of the Keuperbergland. The 18 stations lead through the layers of the Keuper and explain the geological features and the formation of today's landscape. The individual layers can be viewed along the trail. Passing former quarries and streams where rocks are exposed, information boards explain the properties of the different rocks, their formation and significance for mankind. In addition, the composition and horizons of different soils are shown at a soil science station. In Buoch, the history of the village's water supply and the importance of the springs and wells are also discussed.</p
