The hiking trail is varied on forest, forestry and field paths, sometimes only as a narrow path. In addition to the actual route, smaller detours are recommended: to the rest area at the Salzgitter-Lichtenberg geotrail with information board, to the renatured area of the former Haverlahwiese open-cast mine and to the BUND Waldhaus Altenhagen. The route itself is continuous and well signposted. The final climb in the summer of 2021 turned out to be rather overgrown, so it is advisable to take a detour around the BUND Waldhaus in order to return to the hiking car park on the narrow path next to the road. Adventurers can also easily find their way back via the actual route 25.
