The Durbeke path is part of the offering of the natural heritage hiking world in Altenbeken. The somewhat more challenging half-day hike takes you north-west of Altenbeken through the beech-rich Durbeke, which has European significance for species and habitat protection. The riverbed of the Durbeke, which shares the same name, only carries water after the snowmelt or heavy rainfall. Hikes in spring with blooming woodruff, larkspur, and wild garlic, or in the golden autumn when the magnificent forest resembles a sea of colors, are a unique natural experience.
