The Easter Wheel City of Lügde looks back on a long history that is still palpable in many places today. Especially in the historic city center with the still completely preserved city wall, the defensive towers, and half-timbered houses, the past comes to life. The city is one of the most closed agricultural towns in our country and is therefore also a member of the community "Historic City Centers in East Westphalia/Lippe.”
In 784, the city was first mentioned in writing as "villa liuhidi." The actual founding of the city of Lügde is dated back to 1245. It was systematically laid out as a "fortified small town" and was the fortified focal point for the territorial politics of the Counts of Pyrmont until 1668. Take a short city tour through the historic old town and discover the most beautiful sights of the agricultural town.
