Barrier-free nature experience in Bad Salzuflen
Bad Salzuflen, in the Teutoburg Forest / Eggegebirge Nature Park, offers a special nature experience for people with visual and mobility impairments, for families with children, and seniors.
People with mobility or visual impairments can explore the spa park and landscape garden alone or accompanied on a flat path.
The barrier-free hiking trail provides access to nature, animals, and experiences that are fondly remembered.
Along the trail, there are signs and information boards about barrier-free dining options, wheelchair-accessible toilets, parking lots, and particularly interesting natural points along the way.
Experience nature barrier-free
Watch the fallow deer, the swans at the water fountain at the spa park lake, or marvel at the tall plane trees with their gnarly trunks. In the evening, the sun gently lays its rays over nature and everything shines in golden light. Enjoy a carefree stay in pristine nature.
Rare aquatic plants grow along the Salze river meadows, flourishing flowering and valuable shrubs that provide food for diligent bees.
Flexible hiking options on the barrier-free hiking trail
The barrier-free hiking trail can be divided into three circular routes.
The round around the spa park lake is 750 m. Directly adjacent is the route through the shady Salzetal along straight paths with a length of 1,150 meters. The third route includes the flowing transition from the landscape garden to the natural habitat of the Salze meadows. This circular route covers 1,350 meters.
Three varied routes in the midst of pristine nature
The spa park lake route invites you to take an excursion on wide paths even without company. Observe the waterfowl on the lake or listen to the birds in the awakening nature in the morning. By the way, the spa park lake is one of the oldest parts of the landscape garden. In spring, you can observe a swan pair nesting from a distance.
In the Salzetal, nature lovers get to know the interesting meadow landscapes along the course of the river, can feel a wildcat model, and learn interesting facts on an information board in Braille. In addition, the colorful budgerigars in the bird aviaries provide animal pleasure.
The route in the Salze meadows offers unobstructed views over the meadow landscapes, small ponds, and runs on the former narrow-gauge railway line parallel to Exterstrasse. Also noteworthy on this circular route are the fallow deer in the enclosure or the alder swamp forest. Ideally, a person to assist with the wheelchair accompanies this route.
