Altenau cycle path

The Altenau Valley has been inhabited for millennia and has grown in and with nature. This is evidenced by many chamber tombs dating back up to 5,000 years.

Also worthwhile is a detour from the reservoir in Lichtenau-Husen to the mighty Dalheim monastery complex located about 2.5 km away.

Follow the small river from its source in Lichtenau-Blankenrode and along its 28 km length to its confluence with the Alme near Nordborchen, experiencing the enchanting charm of the "Preferred Recreational Area Altenau Valley" along the way.
