The mountain is not only of great attractiveness to humans. It serves as a landmark for numerous insects, including the Swallowtail, the most beautiful butterfly in the Weser Uplands. In the area of the castle ruins, you can observe it calmly during its "dance in the air."
The Desenberg is a sub-area of the "Exquisite Nature." In total, there are 18 such experience areas in the cultural landscape of the Höxter district. They all are components of the protected area system "Natura 2000" and thus belong to our European natural heritage!
