Stukenbrocker Zeitreise | local circular hiking trail in SHS

The tour starts at the lovingly equipped local houses in Stukenbrock. During opening hours or as part of a guided tour, you can experience old tools and modern beekeeping there. The route continues along a small, gurgling valley (the Oelbach!) to the primary school, and then turns left towards the remarkable baroque church. Listen to the sound of its famous organ before embarking on your hiking tour, perhaps fortified by a visit to the café!

The hike initially takes you through the settlement, but quickly turns into a forest hike. The Bokelfenner Forst consists mainly of coniferous forest typical of the barren soil in the Senne region. It is partly interspersed with deciduous trees, and in recent years, the herb and shrub layer has become more prominent. Here, the red deer seek shelter from your gaze, but you may still spot a deer or a herd of fallow deer. You can observe farmers at work on the relatively small, parceled fields. In between, you can also watch buzzards and other birds of prey.

Heading towards the Oerlinghausen glider airfield, with a view of the Teutoburg Forest ridge within walking distance, you enter a slightly hilly coniferous forest with sandy soil, which does justice to the Senne landscape. Countless streams originate in the Senne, carving deep into a box valley in its sandy bed. You cross a dammed Sennebach, the Westerholter Bach, and continue along the path, passing by a riding stable. Upon returning to the settlement area, you can watch the athletes of FC Stukenbrock playing tennis, soccer, or bocce. The path makes a small detour into the settlement area near the soccer field, where you'll find a beautiful playground surrounded by trees that will surely delight younger children. Finally, if you wish, you can enjoy a cozy conclusion at one of Stukenbrock's quaint pubs.
