The stage starts in Leopoldstal and ends in Bad Driburg. In Bad Driburg, there are return options with public transport from the station via Altenbeken to Leopoldstal.

The stage is approximately 14 kilometers long and has an altitude difference of 150 meters. The path runs on natural paths through quiet forests, but also through newly afforested fallow areas. Through beech forests, it leads directly to the edge of the Egge east slope.

3. Landscape features
The Egge is the habitat of numerous rare animal species such as wildcats, black storks, and hazel grouse. The many crevices and caves serve as bat roosts. Large areas of the nature park are designated as European protected areas. Along the Eggeweg, you will repeatedly come across funnel-shaped sinkholes and other karst phenomena that have formed due to the water-soluble limestone underground. After the climb to the Lippische Velmerstot, you will come to its "twin peak", the Preußische Velmerstot - the highest elevation of the Hermannshöhen.

Good to know: Villages and catering establishments are rarely directly on the path.

Highlights on the route
The Preußische Velmerstot is the highest peak of the Egge Mountains. The Lippische Velmerstot is its little sister. In the past, the Lippe-Prussian border ran here. The Eggeturm - a 17 m high observation tower - is located on the Preußische Velmerstot. From the tower, you have a fascinating panoramic view over Egge, Teutoburg Forest, Weser Uplands, all the way to the Sauerland. The Iburg is located on a mountain spur above the basin of Bad Driburg. The impressive ruin, a former Saxon people's castle, and the Kaiser-Karls-Turm form a beautiful destination for hikers who love panoramic views. The Sachsenklause offers a fantastic view of Bad Driburg during a stop.
