Hermannsdenkmal & hidden paths in the Teutoburg Forest

We will take you from the starting point ADFC station Bad Meinberg on small hidden paths and trails out of the Werre valley to the ridge of the Remmighauser mountain and down into the valleys of the Wiembecke and Berlebecke. On diverse forest paths, we ascend the Grotenburg with the famous Hermannsdenkmal, the symbol "Myth of the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest 9 AD". After the lively hustle and bustle around the tourist highlight, we will lead you into the vast lonely forests of Winnfeldes, where you will climb steep hollow paths, ride up and down on wide forest roads, and enjoy the forest landscapes with small valleys. After crossing the mountain pass "Gauseköte", we will circle the upper Langenberg with its surprising views and reach the historic mountain pass "Kleiner Rigi" with the archaeological excavation "Hohlweg". Whether this was already used in Roman times 2,000 years ago is currently not scientifically proven - but there are indications. After a steep descent, we roll towards the cultural and natural monument Externsteine, enjoy a stop at the Felsenwirt and learn about the historical and cultural significance of the rocks. We circumnavigate the old town of Horn on small paths, our tour suggestion leads you in the end to the Naptetal with the historical peat extraction of Bad Meinberg, as well as back to the starting point in the Werre valley.
