Monument Route Hiddenhausen

The monument route Hiddenhausen leads as a well 20 km long circular route through the most beautiful landscapes, to numerous monuments, historical buildings, and natural monuments. The starting and ending point is the picturesque Craft Museum, part of the extraordinary building ensemble of Gut Hiddenhausen. Past green pastures, the path leads to the Bustedter meadows, which are also flood retention basins and a nature reserve. Along the Brandbach, the journey continues to Gut Bustedt, an old water castle from the 15th century and today an important environmental education center. Past the French grave and the clock tower in Lippinghausen, you reach the Füllenbruch, a wet depression with many meadows, valuable plant populations, and naturally designed streams. Continuing towards Sundern, the journey then goes along the foot of the Schweichelner mountain to the remarkable museum school. From there, the path continues downhill to the Werre, which you accompany a short distance north. From the river valley, the return route leads over the northern foothills of the Schweichelner mountain - here the highest point of the route is reached - to further monuments in the districts Eilshausen and Hiddenhausen.
The route mainly runs on little-traveled roads, independent bike paths, and paved farm roads, some of which are closed to through traffic. Some slopes require good basic fitness and some riding technique is advantageous on descents.
