"Forest is a monosyllabic word, but a world full of wonders. It is the cheapest pharmacy for body and soul. The Stemweder Berg is located in the southeast of the Dümmer Nature Park. With its 181 meters above sea level, it is the last elevation before the North German Plain. To the south, it is bordered by the park-like cultural landscape of the municipality of Stemwede. To the east of Lake Dümmer lies the Oppenweher Moor. The Stemweder Berg is composed of limestones from the younger Cretaceous period. This soft limestone contains imprints of shells. The forest consists mainly of beech trees. Here are two large areas of the extremely rare masterwort beech forest. Along the route, in addition to historical boundary stones, high-stemmed orchards provide habitats for dormice, little owls, and bat species to be discovered. Native wildlife such as deer, pheasants, and foxes can be found here. Also, species such as primroses, wood anemones, and native orchids are settled in the Stemweder Berg."
