Monument Route Bünde

This circuit course offers a lot of variety that the Herford district has to offer: lively urbanity meets rural seclusion and tranquility. The tour starts at the train station in Bünde. Passing by the beautiful cinema "Universum," you leave the city center heading north towards Dünne. After some ups and downs, you reach an old castle-style waterworks and shortly before that, at 106 meters above sea level, the highest point of the route - one-third of the distance is already completed. From here, it goes downhill until you reach the river Else. While the path continues along the northern bank to Kirchlengern, you will experience how the river flows in natural loops through the nature reserve. South of the Else, you will climb back up to the "Doberg." Here it is worth getting off your bike and taking a moment to secure it. On foot, the former large marl pit, which is now both an archaeological site and a nature reserve, is definitely worth a visit. The last third of the route leads past many monuments and the museum island through the center of the tobacco city Bünde back to the train station. The parking lot at the train station in Kirchlengern is an alternative starting point. Of course, it is easily possible to start from any other place along the route. The train station in Bünde can be easily reached by train from Bünde, Herford, and Bad Oeynhausen. Bicycle transport is possible here (partly limited).
