Experience nature, learn history, enjoy Rietberg - this is what the circular hiking trail "Grafenschritte" offers.
Following in the footsteps of the counts, idyllic paths along the Ems River lead hikers through the protected, historic city center and past diverse natural areas. There is much to discover along the route: picturesque half-timbered houses with artistically decorated gables, centuries-old manor houses and monuments, as well as narrow, winding alleys leading to secret gardens. Special attention is deserved by the historical town hall - with its distinctive shape, it is considered one of the most beautiful town halls in Westphalia. For a little refreshment along the way, quaint, cozy local establishments of traditional businesses invite you to linger and enjoy.
Nature lovers will also get their money's worth on this city hike: because the nature reserve Rietberger Fischteiche, the Gartenschaupark, the monastery garden, and the ramparts around the historic city center offer visitors diverse nature experiences along the way.

The central starting point (bus station) on the edge of the historic city center allows for an easy entry into the route. Thanks to small differences in altitude and well-paved paths, mostly also asphalted or paved, the city hike is very suitable for all generations.
