R1a - Around the Wupper Dam

From the starting point (Hohenfuhrstraße car park, town hall, city center Radevormwald), turn left onto Hohenfuhrstraße, follow the signposted route R1a, turn left at the traffic-light intersection onto Kaiserstraße, continue straight ahead. Before the right turn, turn left onto Hohensraße, continue on the cycle path to Rädereichen. Here, use the crossing aid to the right to continue on the cycle path Hückeswagener Straße/B 483 towards Hückeswagen.

From the village of Neuenherweg, follow the R1a signposting straight ahead to Hückeswagen. In the roundabout in Hückeswagen, continue straight, then turn right onto the signposted cycle path, also R1a, former railway line, towards Remscheid (Bergischer Panoramaradweg / Balkantrasse). Continue towards Bergisch-Born through the 220 m long Höhsieper Tunnel. From here, turn right towards Remscheid, here the route leaves the cycle path to the right about 1 km behind the "blue bridge".

Via a path that turns into a paved road, we reach the village of Engelsburg. Cross the L 412 to the left at the restaurant. After another 300 m, turn right onto Eichenhof Street. Follow the slightly sloping, approximately 3.5 km long road through the Feldbachtal, to the Feldbach-Vorsperre, junction L 412. The road must be crossed to continue on the right side. Joined with R 2, continue the tour over the Wupperbrücke on the cycle/pedestrian path overlooking the reservoir. After about 600 m, turn right, a short climb to the Kräwinkel recreational park. Continue for 4 km on the cycle path (Bergerhofer railway line), former railway track, towards Radevormwald city center. At the end of the cycle path, the tour continues on the right side (use the crossing aid, watch out for traffic) along Kaiserstraße to the city center.

At the pedestrian traffic light (end of cycle path), continue straight onto Kaiserstraße (one-way street) towards the market square. Cross it on the left towards Oststraße, where after another 200 m, turn left into Schützenstraße (dead end). The starting point, town hall car park, is on the other side of the street, reached via the crossing aid on Hohenfuhrstraße.
