Between Mountain and Quarry

On the bicycle tour "Mountain and Quarry," cyclists are led through 6 of the 9 villages of the municipality of Hille. Entry into this family-friendly planned tour is possible at any point. Numerous parking spaces or parking facilities are located directly along the designated route. The route is almost flat and leads through scenic areas and to numerous attractions of the municipality of Hille. Among other things, the nature reserve "Bastauwiesen" is crossed twice. In the spa park of the village of Rothenuffeln, an ensemble of historical half-timbered buildings, playground equipment, and a pond landscape invite you to linger. A boules court and exercise equipment offer opportunities to park the bikes and engage in sports in other ways. Several gastronomic establishments (including two spas, so-called "farm baths") offer not only coffee and cake in typical village architecture, but also regional specialties to strengthen body and soul. In Oberlübbe, directly on the route, is the Old Bakehouse from 1839 at Hof Böhne. A short break can also be taken here. The Dutch windmill of the village of Südhemmern (built in 1880), the historical village chapels in the villages of Nordhemmern and Holzhausen II, and the Old County Jail or the village square in Hartum are also suitable for short stops.
At the northern turning point of the Mountain and Quarry Tour is the natural bathing lake Mindenerwald, where a refreshing swim can be taken free of charge during the summer months (parking spaces and sanitary facilities are available). A pirate ship invites children and the young at heart to play and linger directly by the water. A kiosk is located in the immediate vicinity.

The total distance can be shortened to around 18 km and then ridden as a northern or southern loop by following the cycle path signage of the NRW cycling network between the mill in Südhemmern and the village of Hartum.
