Berinkhusenweg

The versatile hike around Brenkhausen starts northeast of the village at the nature reserve "Räuschenberg". The sunny slopes of the Räuschenberg are traditionally grazed by goats. In spring, a colorful display of flowers can be admired, while in summer, oregano and thyme fill the air with their aromatic scents, creating a Mediterranean atmosphere.

The combination of short steep ascents and the sweeping views over the landscape make the 16 km circular tour truly magical. The route includes narrow winding forest paths and trails along meandering streams. The diverse landscape is often divided by hedges, which are important for birds and wildlife.

Impressive views can also be enjoyed of the Brenkhausen monastery complex, which now serves as the headquarters of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Germany. Embracing ecumenism and working closely with the Catholic Church, the monastic life here flourishes anew. Be sure to plan a visit and experience oriental hospitality and warmth.
