Erndtebrück - Giller Tower and back

The circular hike with a length of about 20 kilometers starting from Erndtebrück leads to one of the most magnificent views in the center of the Siegen-Wittgenstein district: the Gillerturm. Before the pleasure, however, dear God has famously set the work, so that on the way to the tour's highlight, first 10 kilometers must be completed, meandering from the parking lot below the Pulverwaldstadion along the young Eder, over the Rothaarsteig and through Hilchenbach-Lützel up to the Gillerberg. The Gillerturm is a 15 m high, listed observation tower. It was built in 1892 by the Sauerländischer Gebirgsverein Abteilung Hilchenbach e. V. in steel lattice construction. From the observation platform at an altitude of 668 m, one can overlook large parts of the Sieger, Sauer, and Wittgenstein landscape. In particularly clear weather, the view extends to the Großer Ölberg in the Siebengebirge and the Großer Feldberg in the Taunus. A distance table on the platform lists some nearby and distant landmarks.
The way back leads along the Ginsberger Heide and along the Wehbach almost to Altenteich. From here, the path leads after a short ascent to the old Erndtebrücker Landstraße, which it leaves at the Hachenberg and leads in switchbacks through a residential area back to the starting point.
