Discover Lohberg's history

The workers' settlements in the Ruhr area have a strong attraction for locals and tourists.
A prominent position is held by the garden city of Lohberg. Already at the time of its construction between 1907 and 1923, it was considered a model settlement of modern urban planning. After completion, the garden city of Lohberg included 918 residential houses, schools, kindergartens, churches, a casino, a consumer cooperative, and other shops as well as a post office, police station, medical practice, and restaurants.
The post office and police station have been closed, the tram line discontinued. The consumer cooperative has lost its function. Most of the buildings have retained their form and fascinate observers, then as now. The traces of Lohberg's over hundred-year history are omnipresent.
