A8 - Short hike for nature explorers

The approx. 5 km long hiking trail A8 starts at the Börde-Therme. From there, the trail leads over Gartenstraße and "Zur Hepper Höhe" to the Quellenhof Clinic and the Freiherr-von-Wintzingerode-Park (Wildpark). It's worth taking a look into the park here.
The trail leads a bit more generously around the wildlife park, past the Hof Cosmann (wind turbine).
Through the fields, a beautiful view of the church silhouette of Soest opens up. Back in Bad Sassendorf, the trail runs parallel to the railway line to the Börde-Therme.
After the hike, you can relax wonderfully there. Next door, the graduation tower invites you to "take a breather." Or you can end the day in one of the small cafes and restaurants in the spa park and village.
To the Freiherr-von-Wintzingerode-Park (named after the initiator Freiherr von Wintzingerode, who was the district director in Soest and also created the "Arnsberger Wald" nature park): The park, established in 1960, covers an area of 15.5 ha and is divided into 2/3 deciduous forest and 1/3 meadow area, which serves as a grazing area for the fallow deer, mouflons, and peacocks living there. In December 1997, the partially remaining orchard was supplemented with approx. 80 fruit, 10 chestnut, and 9 walnut trees. The park is accessible to everyone free of charge. Its special feature is that within the enclosure, humans and animals can meet on equal terms. In addition to a high educational benefit and leisure and experiential value, the Freiherr-von-Wintzingerode-Park thus also serves an underestimated therapeutic purpose.
