Start and finish are located in the beautiful town center of Nieukerk. In addition to ample parking, there are beautiful historical buildings and a good selection of dining establishments. Varied, with sometimes spectacular views and of course wonderfully green, that's how the Kerkener Bruch presents itself to its visitors. The designation "Bruch" dates back to earlier times when the entire area was much wetter than it is today. The area was unsuitable for agriculture and was only used for obtaining firewood and straw. Typically, the villages are lined up along the edges, in the transition area to the adjacent higher, fertile areas, resembling a string of pearls. This is also the case for most districts of Kerken. In addition to landscape and nature reserves, the marshland area also has archaeological sites such as the Landwehrverläufe in the Eyller Bruch. So, there are excellent conditions for interesting discovery tours on a total of 1169 hectares.
