Hawerland is the name given to the harmoniously undulating landscape between the Sauerland towns of Schmallenberg and Bracht, Berghausen and Werpe. People have been settling in this beautiful, original region since time immemorial. It is claimed that in Wormbach there was a prehistoric cult site as far back as the Old Stone Age, 2800 BC. However, it is certain that around the year 800 AD, the original parish of the Sauerland was consecrated here. In this area, more archaic customs and traditions have survived than one might think by looking at the down-to-earth residents; every stone here can tell stories of millennia-long settlement. Embark on a journey into the past, hike the ancient paths of the dead in Soest, Landenbeck, and Fleckenberg. Let yourself be enchanted by the ubiquitous remnants of the rich Sauerland myth culture and the beautiful nature.
