Circular hiking trail Kalkar-Hanselaer-Hönnepel-Kalkar

The hike starts at the tourist information in Kalkar and leads over the Gasthausstege, past the historic city windmill, out of the city center. After just 300 meters, you reach the Sebastianswall behind the bridge at the former Hanselaertor and hike far away from asphalted roads and traffic noise on a well-developed path along the Ley stream. Typical Lower Rhine landscape with hedgerow-lined paths, hawthorn hedges, blackthorns, and elderberries accompany the route to the idyllic village of Hanselaer. The village has preserved its appearance for centuries. A visit to St. Antonius Church and the glass studio Lucas (opening hours) are worthwhile. The path initially leads to Hönnepel via Spickstraße, known for the Fast Breeder, now Wunderland Kalkar. The tour runs back to Kalkar through meadows and fields. At the Taubenturm, outside the city gates, the path leads over the Jakobuswall, past the Jewish cemetery (accessible via the bridge at the mill) back to the historic city center of Kalkar.
