Hilden to Düsseldorf-Garath
We start at Hülsenstraße in Hilden and hike south through the extensive Benrath Forest. There, we repeatedly encounter the marking "D", which is the Düsseldorf Way connecting the right-bank suburbs of the Altstadt.
For a short while, we hike along a dam next to the Itter, then back into the city forest, the Garath Forest. Not all of the forest belongs to the city, as we enter a private forest for some time through a barred revolving door. Don't worry, entry is free!
A few kilometers later, we circle the Oerkhaussee with its new bird observation platform. After some time on field paths, we enter a wooded area and enjoy beautiful narrow paths and delightful stream passages. At the end of the stage, we walk along the edge of a residential area before reaching our destination at Schloss Garath.
