After starting at Lennestadt-Altenhundem train station, the journey leisurely passes through Kirchhundem to Oberhundem. This is followed by the famous serpentines over the Rhine-Weser watershed to the other side of the Rothaar mountains. From there, follow the Eder towards Bad Berleburg, then from Aue-Wingeshausen take on the long ascent over Jagdhaus back to the Sauerland side of the mountain. This climb was also tackled by professional cyclists during the 2008 Deutschland-Tour. A dreamy descent takes us down into the Lenne valley to Schmallenberg. Through the Haverland with its open and undulating landscape, the tour then leads us through Oedingen and Elspe, the location of the famous Karl May festivals, back to Altenhundem.
