EifelSpur Between Ville and Eifel

The EifelSpur "Between Ville and Eifel" leads over 10.1 km through densely wooded forests, across expansive fields and meadows, and along a small stream. The circular hike through the Rhineland Nature Park runs along the transition between the Ville mountain range and the Eifel region. The nature reserve of Villewälder, densely covered with beech trees, and the nature reserve of In der Roten Maar, significant for amphibians, make the hearts of hikers and nature lovers beat faster. The path runs alongside the babbling Swist, whose source is located in the Ahr Mountains, passing by former gravel pits. Between the fields, you can enjoy the wide view.

The starting and ending point of the hiking tour is the Swister Tower. The tower is the remains of an old parish and pilgrimage church on Swisterberg. The former parish church was built between 1100 and 1125. After the decay and demolition of the nave in 1828, the tower was renovated several times until it was finally blessed as a pilgrimage site by the Archbishop of Cologne in 2006.
