Hölter history trail: Small version

Wenholthausen in the Wennetal valley was first mentioned in a document in 1288. Over the centuries, it developed from a farming and artisan village into one of the leading holiday and climatic health resorts in the Sauerland Rothaargebirge Nature Park. In Wenholthausen, which is now part of the municipality of Eslohe, around 1,500 people live. The small village of Oesterberge at over 500 meters above sea level and the Rittergut Haus Blessenohl at 280 meters above sea level also belong to it. Well-signposted hiking trails, distinctive viewpoints such as the Markshöhe with the "Hölter Hütte" and the historic Eibel with the large children's playground delight not only hikers. It is no coincidence that the climatic health resort is a member of the Sauerland Hiking Villages. The "Sauerland Hoehenflug", a "Quality Trail Hiking in Germany", leads directly through our beautiful village. The Sauerland-Radring, located directly on the edge of the village, connects the Ruhrtal-Radring with the Lenne-Radring and runs on the former railway lines. Attractive farm holiday farms ensure that many children with their parents and grandparents visit our village every year. Three hotels offer holidaymakers, especially short break guests, hikers, fly fishing enthusiasts, cyclists, and motorcyclists, as well as business travelers, accommodation. The restaurants offer top-class Sauerland cuisine, which has received multiple awards. But also international dishes and drinks are offered ranging from original Italian delicacies from Calabria to five-star menus of upscale gourmet cuisine.
