Saltgitter hiking trail (Fuchsberg and Beinumer Wald)

The hiking trail is designed as an out-and-back route. Since the footpath cannot be represented one-to-one on the digital map, please pay close attention to the signage in the forest. A one-way route is approximately 4.5 km long, so the total distance for the round trip is over 9 km. Previously, an alternative route was offered for the return journey, but it has since become overgrown. Therefore, please stay on the ridge path. You will pass through a special forest area that has its own focus in the Salzgitter Nature Atlas: Section 4 Fuchsberg and Beinumer Wald. Influences of mining and agriculture on landscape design become visible. Strong contrasts are evident in adjacent sections of deciduous and coniferous forests. For this hike, one should immerse oneself in the special fauna and flora along the way. At the end of the one-way route, at the turning point of the tour, there is also a playground with benches for a break next to the cemetery in Engerode.
