Gravel-Genuss-Tour: Birdy´s Beef House Oberderdingen

This ultimate, crisp gravel tour in the land of 1000 hills starts in Hohenhaslach, leads through impressive wine landscapes, the Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park, past striking points such as the White Quarry and ends with an ascent and descent of the highest point in the region, the Baiselsberg.

On the way, you can enjoy spectacular views, speed through vineyards and take a hill break at Birdy's Beef House restaurant.

At Birdy's Beef House, the motto is quality before quantity, which you can clearly taste in the juicy burgers and steaks. The vegan and vegetarian dishes are a delight both visually and in terms of taste.

The starting signal is given at the hiking parking lot in Hohenhaslach. Warming up? Not today! Straight into the panorama over the hills and the Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park. First climb done? Then it's on into the forest. Past the Pfeiferhütte, Brackenheim's telecommunications tower and not forgetting the White Quarry. It's worth making a short stop here. Push the bike up to the viewing platform. The view over the Zabergäu: simply spectacular.

Onward we go! The Zaberfelder Steige awaits you before heading down to Zaberfeld. Hill pass selfie and grabbed the wall of fame? Check!

On the other side, the route goes slightly uphill between the vines and then through the Gehrenwald forest. Can you see that too! Again and again you can see a new view. A very special view awaits you above Kürnbach. The wine village with its half-timbered houses and vineyards lies like a sea of vines at your feet.

From here, the route takes you along country lanes to Flehingen, past the moated castle to your well-earned break on the hill: the Birdy's Beef House restaurant (please note opening times). Here you can hook up your gravel bike in the new bike rack while you recharge your batteries.

Refreshed and invigorated, you cycle through the pretty village of Oberderdingen. With strength in your legs, you then reach the Derdinger Horn, the wine plateau in the hill country. From here you again have a magnificent view over the wine landscape. The route leads you along gravel paths to the next hill pass: the Bannhalde at 419 m. You've made it! And then? Pure gravel bliss on flowing trails.

Just before Gündelbach, another little treat awaits you: homemade farm ice cream and cold refreshments. And the Scottish Highland cattle live right next door. What an experience.

On the other side of the country road, we head up again. The highest elevation in the hill country is waiting for you! The Baiselsberg with its 477 m! You can be happy because you've made it! From now on, it's just a matter of enjoying the downward breeze.

The tour can also be easily started from Flehingen. Then you can postpone the stop at Birdy's Beef House to the end of the tour.
