Forest nature trail in the Tannenbusch Bad Gottleuba

From the historic market in Bad Gottleuba, the hike leads up to the Tannenbusch. The Tannebusch got its name because of the spruces that used to grow there. These were commonly referred to as fir trees. After the devastating storms "Herwert" and "Frederike" in 2017 and 2018, major damage occurred here. The drought in the following years served as an entry point for the bark beetle. Due to the lack of water and thus the lack of resin in the pure spruce stands, the bark beetle was able to multiply explosively. The result was the complete death of the spruces on the Tannenbusch. The state enterprise Sachsenforst, in cooperation with the town of Bad Gottleuba-Berggießhübel, has drawn up a plan to plant the resulting bare areas with various tree species. The new panels show how the bare areas caused by the bark beetle are revitalised with new tree species, thus bringing a new forest to life. From the ridge trail you can enjoy great views of the Gottleuba Valley.
