The tour first leads through the sparse forest along the Blutbach in the Hohenstein area, one of the most popular destinations in the region. According to legend, the Blutbach got its name because it is said to have turned red from the blood of the warriors during the battle between the Saxons and the Franks in 782. The Hohenstein rises to 330 m with a breathtaking view from the 60 m high cliffs. It was the main sanctuary of the pagan Saxons. Next, you will reach the Grüner Altar, also called Teufelskanzel. It is believed that cultic rituals took place here. Follow the signs for the "Rundwanderweg Hohenstein" back to the starting point. Pay attention to details along the wayside, such as the Kreuzstein.
