Friedrichshagen, like other "Friedrichsdörfer" in the region, is a new foundation of Landgrave Friedrich II. in the period from 1770 - 1780. Friedrichshagen is located south of the main city at the foot of the foothills of the Lippe mountain range and directly borders the forests of the Hessisch Oldendorf Wesertal Süd landscape protection area, from where hikes into the Lippe mountain range can be undertaken.
