Centrally located, there is the Dümmer Lake, as it is geographically known, as a starting point for many holiday activities. The second largest inland lake in northwestern Germany (16 km², diked) is a wonderful sailing and windsurfing area and with an average depth of about 1.50 m, it is also a family-friendly bathing area. The popular holiday resorts Lembruch and Hüde are the tourist centers of the region; a little off the beaten path, pure nature beckons and invites exploration.
