Shade-giving forests next to golden fields, intensely bright heath areas bordering pale yellow sand dunes: A journey on the Geest Cycle Path is an unforgettable nature experience for all the senses. Peace and romantic idyll quickly unfold, captivating everyone.

The 177 km long Geest Cycle Path connects the rivers Ems and Weser. Starting from Meppen, the route leads up to the Hanseatic city of Bremen, passing by silent witnesses of Stone Age inhabitants, unique architectural monuments, popular museums, and hospitable places.

The starting point of the journey is the Emsland: From the over 1,200-year-old fortress city of Meppen, the route heads towards Hümmling. Hidden among gnarled trees are the first megalithic tombs over 5,000 years old to be discovered. In Sögel, nestled in the middle of an imposing tree-lined avenue, is an architectural gem: the baroque hunting lodge of Clemenswerth.

The Oldenburger Münsterland opens up new perspectives. The open-air museum "Museumsdorf Cloppenburg" is absolutely worth seeing. More than 50 original buildings from the 16th to the 19th century invite you on a journey into the past. Those who have already visited the hunting lodge of Clemenswerth pay only half price here - and vice versa.

A detour to the Thülsfelder Dam, a picturesque reservoir with skerry-like coves, is worthwhile. Extensive hiking and cycling trails, playgrounds, nature trails, and the breathtaking climbing forest have made the region around the reservoir a preferred destination.

From Wildeshausen, the Geest Cycle Path continues through the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park. Once again, the "giants from the Stone Age" are present: Visbeker Bride and Groom, the longest megalithic tombs in Northern Germany, are just a stone's throw away. A little further east, the Pestrup Grave Field impresses with over 500 Stone and Bronze Age burial mounds.

Finally, from the "Hohen Berg" in Syke/Ristedt, a fantastic view over the Weser Valley opens up before the cyclists are welcomed in Bremen by the "Town Musicians" and the "Roland".
