Only plants originating from the tropics and subtropics grow at the Witzenhausen Tropical Institute. These are food and fodder plants, but also medicinal, dyeing and aromatic plants. Some plants are used to obtain industrial raw materials such as fibres or oil, others are used as ornaments. The greenhouse for tropical useful plants is open on Wednesdays, Fridays and at weekends from 2 to 4 pm. Admission is free.
