A good starting point to begin is the City Museum Schloss Salder. There are plenty of free parking spaces available. The route leads towards Watenstedt and on the bridge of Industriestraße, there is a good view of the steelworks of Salzgitter AG. (Factory tour at www.tourismus-salzgitter.de)
Heading towards Beddingen, you will pass by MAN and Alstom, the Salzgitter-AG, and further on to the VW plant. A detour leads to the Üfingen lock and the route continues past Schacht Konrad.
