Border Country Bicycle Tour

The Elbe riverscape is described as a true natural paradise. But it has also witnessed the downside of history. The River Elbe formed part of the internal German border for some time. But rivers can connect as well as divide and today the Border Country Bicycle Tour runs through three federal states: Brandenburg,Lower Saxony and Saxony Anhalt.
Apart from the magnificent flora and fauna, you are sure to pass one or two testaments to the eventful past along the route. The route takes you towards a special place, which, as such, only exists as a monument: Stresow - the village that had to disappear from the map when the border was drawn. Today, information panels tell the eventful history of the village. Experience this beautiful area without the need to show a pass!

via: Cumlosen - Lüktenwisch - Schnackenburg - Stresow - Wanzer - Pollitz - Wahrenberg
