Experience Route Southwest

The RegioGrün Adventure Route starts at the Decksteiner Weiher in the Cologne Green Belt and takes cyclists through the very diverse Stotzheim agricultural landscape in Hürth. After a short but steep climb to the Ville, there is an excellent view of the city of Cologne and the hills of the Bergisches Land in good weather. Passing by the Otto-Maigler-See and away from the main roads, the route leads through the Berrenrather Börde to the historic Türnich Castle before reaching the first stage destination, the Gymnicher Mühle in the Erftaue.

The Gymnicher Mühle Nature Park Center has been transformed into an attractive extracurricular learning environment in recent years following extensive construction work as part of the ReigoGrün project. The water adventure park invites visitors of all ages to experience the element of water in a new way with its various play stations. In line with this, the exhibition "Km 51 - The Erft Museum" presents the river from another exciting perspective. In addition, the Water Workshop in its seminar and laboratory rooms offers school and kindergarten groups the opportunity to explore the "wet element."

The bike route then leads from the Gymnicher Mühle Nature Park Center past Gymnich Castle through the Bördelandschaft to Erftstadt-Lechnich. The Landesburg and the historic city center of Lechenich invite you to linger before reaching the Friesheimer Busch Environmental and Nature Park Center. At the environmental center, environmental and nature conservation associations of Erftstadt, as well as development cooperation associations and schools, work together to implement environmental education, environmental, nature, and landscape conservation, as well as the requirements of the Local Agenda 21 in Erftstadt. From the Friesheimer Busch Nature Park Center, the route leads past Schloss Gracht, one of the most impressive water castles in the Cologne area, and the post-mining landscapes of the Brühl Villeseen, passing by the industrial backdrop of Hürth Knapsack back over the Ville to the Decksteiner Weiher.

Alternatively, the tour destinations can also be reached individually: by bike to the Gymnicher Mühle Nature Park Center (39 km) and back to Cologne or as a partial tour from Cologne to the Friesheimer Busch Environmental and Nature Park Center (57 km) and back to the Decksteiner Weiher.
