It is the longest of the RevierRouten in radrevier.ruhr. With a length of 68 kilometers, the route leads through the Börden landscape around Hamm. On this tour, the journey is particularly important. Relaxing cycling, just clearing your mind and leaving the stress and hustle of everyday life behind. The starting point The tour starts directly at the main train station in Hamm and is therefore excellently connected to long-distance and regional rail traffic. By car, it is better to choose a different starting point, for example at Maximilian Park. Start of the tour From the main train station, the tour quickly leads to the Datteln-Hamm Canal. Between the canal and the Lippe, you can cycle very relaxed away from the traffic. Time and time again, nature shows its diversity. A nature reserve with a huge power plant in the background - a stronger contrast is hardly possible. But that's exactly what makes this section so special. The former Klöcknerbahn At junction 2 just before Marina Rünthe, the route branches off from the canal. The bikes now roll southward on the former Klöcknerbahn. Cyclists make good progress here with little traffic. One day, this section is supposed to be expanded into the Ruhr Expressway (RS 1), then you can cycle quickly and easily from here to Duisburg on the Rhine. The Westfälische Eisenbahn Shortly before Unna, the tour then switches to the former Westfälische Eisenbahn. It runs almost straight to the east and offers beautiful views of the Börde. Especially during asparagus season, it is worth taking a detour to one of the farm shops of the local farms. Back over the fields to Maxipark Back over the fields to Maxipark From junction 53, the tour now leads back north to Hamm. Wide fields and many horse farms shape the landscape. Visitors should allow enough time for Maximilian Park in Hamm. In 1984, a state horticultural show took place on the site of the former Zeche Maximilian. A visitor highlight and a popular photo motif is the immense glass elephant, which is also the landmark of the city of Hamm. The butterfly house is also worth seeing. Relaxation in the spa park The last kilometers lead back along the canal. In the spa park, there is ample time for a break in front of the large graduation tower. The salty air helps, for example, with respiratory problems. Even more relaxation is offered by the Maximare adventure pool before returning to the starting point of the tour.
