Briloner Kammweg - Stage from Brilon via the Ginsterkopf to Willingen

The Briloner Kammweg, like the Rothaarsteig, begins at the market square in Brilon. Beautiful half-timbered houses in the Westphalian style, the town hall with its baroque facade, and the Gothic tower of the Provost Church of St. Peter and Andreas provide the backdrop for the first kilometers out of town. The Möhnequelle is passed together with the "Path of the Senses," the first wave of the Sauerland hill country is mastered, and the descent to the Hiebammenhütte is made.

Peace returns here at the latest. Shortly thereafter, Borberg's churchyard is reached. On the wide clearing amidst lonely beech forests, the early medieval ring wall system, the ruins of the former church, and the chapel on the edge of the rock plateau form a strangely striking ensemble.

From the small forecourt of the Borberg chapel from 1925, there is a beautiful view down into the Ruhr Valley and to Olsberg. Pleasant forest paths lead to the wayside shrine of St. Anthony and to the Schusterknapp. Now you climb relatively steep ascents to Habberg and Ginsterkopf. You will be rewarded with truly fantastic views. If you don't want to climb so high, you can continue at the foot of the mountains.
Shortly before the Feuereiche, both variants meet again. It impressively documents in pictures made of different materials the history of humanity in interaction with the energy source wood. Standing on the watershed between the two most important German waterways, the Rhine and the Weser, it serves as a memorial and symbol for a sustainable approach to nature.

A detour leads to the nearby Bruchhauser Steine, four immense porphyry rocks up to 90 meters high. The Kammweg passes by the federal gold village of Bruchhausen, up to the execution site and then down to Willingen train station.
