SCHERMBECK.RUNDUM - Over Üfte

From Schermbeck Town Hall, this tour leads along the mill ponds towards the Lichtenhagen nature reserve. A large section passes through the Overbeck area with many agricultural businesses, grazing cows, vast meadows, and small patches of forest. At the border with Raesfeld-Erle, the landscape transitions into extensive heathland. Here, a pine forest was planted for the mining operations at Auguste Viktoria in Dorsten, in order to have enough timber available. The sandy soil with old pine trees has a special charm and accompanies the hiker or cyclist over a long distance. At the far eastern tip of the municipal area, the Freudenberg, our route, due to lack of alternatives, follows the federal highway 224 for a while. The path is quite manageable for experienced cyclists and turns west again at a guesthouse. This route is not recommended for small children and families. We have marked a shortcut on the map for you, which avoids the dangerous section. Follow the Rhader Weg in the pine forest with small children until you reach Forsthausweg and turn south here, then continue on Nottkamp. At the intersection Zum Dicken Stein, you will be back on the original route.
