Especially in spring or autumn, the mountain range with its diverse coniferous and deciduous forests, wild plants, and animals offers very impressive motifs. The Wiehen Hills have been part of the nature park "Northern Teutoburg Forest / Wiehen Hills" TERRA VITA since 1962. Since 2015, the Wiehen Hills have carried the UNESCO-awarded designation: "Unesco Global Geopark".
