The Baumberger Entdeckerschleife starts in the parking lot at Klappertorstraße, where the listed Aalschokker "Fiat Voluntas" lovingly restored is set up on the banks of the Rhine. On board since summer 2019 is an eel fishing museum that vividly tells the history of eel fishing on the Rhine. Along the Rhine banks and through the lush meadows of the Rhine foreland, the Entdeckerschleife leads you towards Baumberger Dorfplatz. There, the landmark of the town awaits you with the Catholic Church of St. Dionysius.
Finally, via the picturesque main street, you reach the Urdenbacher Kämpe and the edge of the old Rhine bed, where many water birds have their habitat. Along old pollard willows, whose hollows provide shelter for the rare little owl, you walk to Garather Mühlenbach. There you come across the neanderland STEIG, which leads you to the former Roman fort of Haus Bürgel. This remarkable and historically significant place is now home to a Roman museum, a biological station, and a cold-blooded horse breeding facility. Through the forest in the Baumberger Aue nature reserve, you return to Klappertorstraße.
