The image of the district of Neviges is shaped by the monumental cathedral "Maria, Queen of Peace". The cathedral was built in a predominantly Protestant environment. Even today, two-thirds of Neviges' population are Protestant.
The pilgrimage site Neviges looks back on a history of over 330 years. Since October 22, 1681, people have been making pilgrimages to the miraculous image of the "Immaculate Conception".
The Discovery Loop takes you along the paths of the Protestants and Franciscans through the historic center of Neviges. Hike along natural paths, experience breathtaking views of the nearby Langenberg with its transmitters, and discover milestones of Velbert's history along your way.
