Velbert to Essen-Kettwig
After starting near Velbert's large railway bridge, known as the Saubrücke, the path leads towards Rinderbach. This stream dominates the first half of this stage. Impressive flood retention basins testify to the now tamed primal power of Rinderbach. The route continues past the Abtsküche pond into a beautiful valley section north of Heiligenhaus, into paradise.
In the second half of the stage, we hike north towards the Ruhr, which we reach at the level of Isenbügel. A gigantic view of the Ruhr and Kettwig prepares for the finale of the stage, which ends just before the Kettwig-Stausee S-Bahn station at Rindersberger Mühle. A stage of the great rivers of the region: Ruhr and Rinderbach.
